Cotabato City will celebrate its Araw ng Cotabato on June 20, 2012. This is a declared holiday in the City. One of the highlights of the 53rd Araw ng Cotabato celebration is the annual search for the Mutya ng Cotabato. The 53rd Mutya ng Cotabato coronation night was held last June 18, 2012 in Cotabato Chinese Institute (CCI) Gymnasium with Sen. Chiz Escudero as guest speaker.
This year's winner for the said pageant is MARY JEAN BRILLANTES, 18 year old, also known as "Brill". Among 7 finalists, Brill was crowned the most beautiful woman in Cotabato City. She is a BS Education student of Notre Dame University, Cotabato City. She's born in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat to Mrs. Sarah Brillantes and Mr. Agustine Brillantes on November 25, 1993. She weighs 55 kilos and 5'4 in height. She is a resident of RH 4, General Luna St., Cotabato City.
